Adam has a special place in his heart for elephants. These majestic creatures are a metaphor of strength, family and caring. This collection aims to show just that. Their strength together in defying a storm or their depths of emotion.
Nxai Pan Downpour
Taken on the Nxai Pan salt pan, these pale mud covered elephants are fleeing a massive storm. The underexposure of the image is what allows the viewer to see those grainy thunder clouds and torrential downpour in the background. This family of elephants provides a sense of strength to the print, a unity that is immediately present. 'Nxai Pan Downpour' fits well in almost any example of decor, however it shines when hung on a light wall where it can be the focus.
Brotherly Love
This is one of Adam's oldest pieces, shot at Addo Elephant Park, two bull elephants facing each other with a palpable feeling of emotion. It is loving, it is caring but it could also be interpreted as a deep sadness. The light in their eyes could be a twinkle of joy or a tear of loss. The versatility of the black and white shades allow it to be hung in any décor style and it is grand enough for an entrance hall, but also humble enough for the comfortability of a bedroom.
The Eternal Forest
This beautiful scene of a herd of elephants marching through a petrified forest was taken at Matusadona National Park. Adam broke the rules a little with this shot by shooting at midday, the bright sun directly above doing very little for lighting. However, he liked that bright light reflecting off the water and the dark shadows that help contrast the elephants with the landscape. The stark contrast and high key finish has an open color palette which allows it to fit into many different décor styles.
Elephant Friends
These two baby elephants are simply, for a lack of a better word, adorable. Their lips even seem to be pulled up into smiles of joy and their intertwined trunks show their care for one another, as elephants use their trunks much the same way as humans use their hands. The black and white of this landscape allow for it to be hung in a child's room and it is mature enough to be hung in a parents room.
Wayne's Elephant
This long tusked matriarch was found in Matusodona National Park and the moment Adam saw her, he knew she was special. The way her tusks curve in make her a perfect candidate for a portrait, which are usually difficult to get for elephants, as their tusks tend to curve out widely. This powerful portrait will hold center stage in any room you hang her, be it at the top of a staircase or in an entrance hall greeting every new visitor.
Old World
Mana Pools makes one feel as if you have gone back to a time before humans. The large over hanging trees and 'Fred Astaire', the towering elephant who causes havoc for those who visit. The haze in black and white adds to the depth of the image, making it seem as if there is so much more than what is shown. Unlike 'Mana in Watercolour' which has a calm feel to it, 'Old World' has a more sombre tone, which would translate into whichever decor style you choose to hang it in.
Available in color or black and white.
Runde Crossing
Taken from the tops of the Chilojo Cliffs in Gonarezhou, Adam was able to perfectly capture an elephant crossing through the Runde River. The underexposure and the black and white highlight the elephant beautifully, creating an extremely striking piece. The simplicity of this print allows for it to be hung in very humble places, yet the black and white tones give it a much more sophisticated feel to it as well.
Available in color or black and white.
Jungle Book
One of the main points in Jungle Book is living life in a carefree manner, to roll with the punches and stay positive. The elephant calf in this image has that feel to it. He seems to be dancing about with his mother, almost as if he’s humming “Bare Necessities” to himself. This soft, subtle print makes a good edition to any room, bringing a sense of calm to what could be a chaotic decor style.
Chilojo Cliffs
Overlooking the Runde River, these red sandstone giants are the most prominent feature of Zimbabwe’s Gonarezhou National Park. The elephants in the foreground are almost as majestic. These magnificent creatures are a living metaphor for the cliffs that highlight them, massive and resilient. The natural tones to this landscape allow it to fit any decor style.
The Disappearing herd
This image shows an elephant calf standing still as the rest of her herd moves on without her, the dust they kick up from their path hanging in the air. This eerily sad print hangs well in many decor styles, due to the overexposure of the image.
Mana in Watercolor
This iconic landscape is of the forests in Mana Pools, Zimababwe. They have a distinctive blue haze that permeates the air, lending an ethereal feel to the place. The haze also allows for the colour of the flora to flow into one another, giving it that water-colour paint feel. The elephant 'Fred Astaire' is just as iconic as the landscape. This beautiful print brings a cool burst of colour to those darker walls, and a much needed focal point on those brighter walls.
